Microsoft Unveils Project Natal for the Xbox 360

Monday, June 01, 2009

On Monday at the E3 video game conference Microsoft Corp announced an exciting new technology for the Xbox 360 called "Project Natal" which can not only recognize vocal commands but also track a gamers movements. Full skeletal mapping is tracked by the use of a special camera which will take gaming to a whole new level.

For those of you who have seen the movie "The Island", a Michael Bay film released back in 2005, you will recall a scene where gamers faught against one another with a holographic version of the Xbox. Well, that hasn't been introduced to the mainstream market yet, but you can bet the technology is already there and will become a reality soon enough considering how fast gaming consoles are advancing. This of course is just my personal view of the near future, and where I see the industry heading sooner than later.

In order to make the Xbox 360 game console even more interactive for gamers, Microsoft also announced their plan to integrate social networking sites Facebook and Twitter into the Xbox Live community.
