PSP Dev Tools Prices HalvedMonday, February 11, 2008 SN Systems, the subordinate company of Sony Computer Entertainment, has slashed the prices of development tools for the Sony PSP by half. The new rates will be applicable from the second week of February. The reduction is a part of the strategy to increase the interest in development for the PSP. The tools which are affected include ProDG for PSP, Build Tools, ProView and Tuner. The same scheme would be applied to the renewal of existing services and tools already being used by developers. The addition of Tuner, which is a performance optimizer, is a definite plus, and it would greatly improve the quality of the games being produced. According to spokesperson for SN Systems, these reductions will lead to a continuous supply of PSP games, and quality titles would be more frequent. The tools will give ample power to the Game Developing Companies, and this in turn affects the community on a whole. Similar strategy has been followed for PS3 toolkits, which is an integration for SN System tools, and Sony plans to continue these discounts if sufficient demand and interest is generated.
