Nintendo Leads Next Generation Game Console WarsSaturday, February 24, 2007 Nintendo sold 436,000 Wii units during the month of January. The new Wii gaming console is maintaining a healthy lead against both the Microsoft XBox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 consoles. There are many factors related to Nintendo's success. The Wii costs less which means it's more affordable for many gamers, the system is very user friendly and easy to use and the company also made sure that several popular game titles were available initially at launch. The Playstation 3 and XBox 360 are geared more towards cutting edge technology, which is why those units are more expensive. It was recently announced that Sony will attempt to attract more gamers to their community by offering "Casino Royale" on Blu-ray Disc as an incentive for the first 30,000 purchasers of the PS3 in Australia. It will surely be interesting to see what happens during the next year or so as the next-generation gaming console wars continue to heat up. Just because Nintendo has the lead at this time doesn't mean we can count any rivals out. Also keep in mind that Microsoft will soon be releasing Halo 3 which is sure to gain a lot of attention.
