Stumble Video | YouTube on television

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

StumbleUpon has announced the availability of the Stumble Video service for Nintendo’s Wii. Stumble Video will allow the Wii user to watch videos coming from online services like YouTube directly on the television.

After playing a sports videogame on Wii there will be no better way to relax than watching funny videos directly from YouTube on your television. The possibility to easily bring YouTube on the televisions is the next step in making the Wii the center of the living room.

And another great thing about this Stumble Video service is that no additional hardware is required. Just switch on the console and, using the embedded Opera browser, visit the stumble.tv website. The company expressly retooled their website for the Stumble Video service. The process of browsing and watching YouTube videos on your television using the Wii is as easy as possible.

The videos discovered by Stumble Video members will be organized in categories to further ease the Wii browsing experience. If you just do not have the time or desire to look for specific videos you can always rely on the community that StumbleUpon has built (more than 1.8 millions of members).

Using the same rate system employed by the StumbleUpon website, Wii users will then be able to see other members' discoveries and recommendations. The Stumble Video service will also suggest videos to watch basing on the rates you gave to the videos you already watched.

StumbleUpon plans to expand the Stumble Video service to other wireless devices too. Right now however if you want to use YouTube on your television there is only one way to go: Wii.
