Nintendo Wii News Channel launchesMonday, January 29, 2007 On Saturday a cool new feature was added for the Nintendo Wii gaming console. Nintendo has joined forces with the Associated Press to create the Wii News Channel. Subscribers can select from several languages including English, French, Spanish, German and Dutch.
The channel is absolutely free and gamers can use their revolutionary Wii remote to select locations by spinning a virtual globe. Not only can Nintendo Wii gamers select news sources from around the world, they can also browse articles from several different categories such as Business, Technology and Science, Health, Sports and Arts/Entertainment. Each time an article has been read an icon will appear and users also have the option to adjust text sizes. Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo of America says: What Wii has done for video gaming, we hope it will also accomplish for news. Just by pointing at your TV screen, you become your own interactive editor, instantly accessing the latest headline stories, whether they originate in Kansas City or Kyoto.Wii gamers in Japan already have their own Internet news channel with articles provided by Goo and it is expected that countries in Europe will also have their own channel later in the year.
