Microsoft extends warranty for Xbox 360Sunday, December 24, 2006 Microsoft has extended the warranty for the Xbox 360 gaming console system from 90 days to one full year. The change applies to both previous and future Xbox 360 owners.
Microsoft's largest gaming industry competitors, Nintendo and Sony, both offer one year warranties for their next generation gaming console systems, the Nintendo Wii and Sony Playstation 3. Anyone who has paid for repairs and has owned the Xbox 360 for less than one year will receive a refund by Microsoft. Earlier this year there was a glitch with the online update system for the Xbox which caused damage to some consoles. Microsoft acknowledged the error and fixed the problem immediately.
